When you decide to welcome a shelter animal into your home, you're not only giving a deserving animal a second chance at happiness, but you're also creating space for another animal in need! At Familiar Hearts, our main aim is to ensure that the adoption process is a fulfilling experience for both our beloved animals and their compassionate adopters.

Steps to Adopt
We follow an inclusive open adoptions approach to ensure that each animal finds the perfect home and each home finds the right pet.
No Adoption Fees or Signed Contracts until after you meet your potential new family member.
The steps below may not be executed in exactly this order every time, but you definitely start with the application:

Fill out our Adoption Application
Make sure your references are aware we will be contacting them for vetting
At least every 24 hours, check your inbox, spam + junk email folders
If Application is Approved, coordinate a visit with Dog’s Foster
Home visit (can be virtual)
If proceeding with Adoption:
Virtual consult with one of our Dog Trainers
Pay Adoption Fee (non-refundable)
Sign Adoption Contract
Schedule a training session with one of our trainers (on us!)
Take your beloved new Family Member home
